DADES Chapter 5

This chapter gets really interesting with the Rick and Rachel. Rick giving Rachel who he finds out is a android a empathy test, only to discover that the nexus 6 have some program or technology that gives emotion or a little feelings. I think this is really weird and confusing, if humans give machines organic flesh and synthetic brains and then add to them with emotions sooner rather then later the machines are going to kill all of the humans.

This book reminds me alot of the terminator movies were machines were made to protect two sides of a world war but the turned on there controllers and took over the world. I think DADES is really confusing so far and i want to see if Rick retire the other androids.

DADES Chapter 2-3

Chapter 2 was ok introducing john isadore. I don’t like how Phillip k. dick depicts the slow and mentally unstable as “specials”. I think this is politically incorrect and wrong. Specials however were affected by the fallout of WWT. There is an advertisement on john’s TV that is really interesting. The commercial expressed the reason for people to move off of earth bye giving everyone an android. They compare the new android to the days before the civil war I interpret as slaves.

Chapter 3 is by far the most boring to me so far. Basically Rick goes to work and finds out some bad information from his boos. He explains to Rick that the head bounty hunter is in the hospital after being shot. They don’t specify whose has shot him but I’m guessing it’s most likely and android, or another bounty hunter? His boos tells him that he should meet the bounty hunter at 9:30. After he leaves the hospital he tries to buy an ostrich he saw going to work. He later tries to buy n electric one realizing he couldn’t afford a real

  1. What is the… or is the Voigt-Kampff important to the nexus 6?
  2. Do you think the Rosen Association will have a big effect later in this book?
  3. Continuing in chapter 4 the role of the animal supersedes every thinking else will this cause conflict later in the book?
  4. It is clear that the androids are around the globe when the soviet police are involved this brings up the question of was there diplomacy around the world before migration off Earth.
  5. Why San Francisco for the setting why not a major city in the world like New York, Paris or Seoul?

DADES Chapter 1

The book starts with an bit of an introduction. I think the passage is trying to tell the reader about the importance of animals in the future society of DADES. The actual books starts in Rick Deckards apartment with his wife Iran. This book is getting really interesting after the both of them wake up complaining and fighting over the setting of the mood organ. A futuristic machine that simulates Artificial moods for the operator. I think this is a stupid idea.

The book is in the lonely apartment of the Deckards in San Francisco is in the year 2021. there has been a massive fallout due to the aftermath of the World War. I'm wondering why Phillip choose San Francisco instead of New York or Chicago. I think this book is going to be a little bit interesting.
